The first Zonal CME and Workshop on Single and Reduced Port Laparoscopic Surgery was held on the 26th and 27th of November 2011 at Guwahati. The event was held under the aegis of “Association of Surgeons of Assam” and Indian Association of Gastro Intestinal Endosurgeons and was organized by Swagat Endolaparoscopic Surgical Research Institute. The event was convened by Prof. Subhash Khanna, G. C. Member , ASI with Dr. Kanakeswar Bhuyan of Guwahati and Dr. C. Islam of Hojai as Co- conveners.
The CME programme was held at Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok on the bank of River Brahmaputra and the Live SILS Surgical Workshop was held on the 27th of November 2011 in the Seminar hall of Swagat Endolaparoscopic Surgical Research Institute.
The CME programme was held on the 26th of November and consisted of various CME lectures. There were various lectures on both basics of SILS, Equipment, Instruments, Steps of various techniques to various advanced techniques and innovative techniques.
The Faculty who delivered lectures were Dr. Suresh Deshpande, Dr. John Thanakumar, Dr. Mahendra Narwaria, Prof. Subhash Khanna, Dr. Pritesh Naik, Dr. Ashish Moody, Dr. C. Islam and Dr. E. Khiangte.
On the 27th of November various SILS Laparoscopic Surgeries were conducted live and that included SILS Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, SILS Sleeve gastrectomy with R. port, SILS ventral hernia repair with SILS (Covidien) port, SILS fundoplication with R. Gelport and SILS hysterectomy. All the procedures were completed with Single ports.
The event was supported by grants from Covidien, Stryker India Pvt. Ltd, Habun Surgical, Surgi World, Cook Medical and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, who also demonstrated their products in the exhibition stalls next to the Seminar Hall.
The programme was attended by more than 70 delegates from different parts of North East and rest of India. |
